We’ve been serving the people of Honduras since 1999.

Our Story

Gary and Cheryl Kuney founded Gathering Hearts for Honduras just over two decades ago with a passion to help young Honduran men and women change the trajectory of poverty, crime, and broken homes that many experience. The ministry began with one faithful couple and one call from God: to make His name great among those in Honduras. Initially working out of San Pedro Sula, Gary and Cheryl felt a special compassion for those living further away from the city. A highway connects San Pedro Sula and Puerto Cortes (an important coastal/port city), and those that live along the highway are often the ones with the greatest spiritual and physical need.

Gathering Hearts for Honduras is now based about halfway between San Pedro Sula and Puerto Cortes in a village called “Seis de Mayo”. We have a mission center with English classrooms, a children’s center, a dental and medical clinic, dormitories housing 20+ for when we host teams from the States, and a new soccer field. We have grown from a ministry that held meetings under a mango tree to one that has 22 employees and a missions compound. Praise God for all he’s done!
