"Gerzon was involved in a tragic accident.  After six surgeries in eighteen months, doctors finally told Gerzon they did not have the medical equipment or expertise to save his leg"

Nelson Osorto and  Gerzon Lainez met overwhelming challenges including strikes, blocked highways, and drivinh seven hours in the middle of the night to arrive at the embassy in the capital of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Praise the Lord. they arrived on time for their appointment to be approved for  visas to the U.S.  so that  Gerzon  could  be fitted with a prosthesis. If they missed this appointment, they would not get another opportunity until 2026. Thanks to Jerry Morris of Bridge Builders International., and Senator Lankford of OK, for expediting these visas.

Gerzon was involved in a tragic accident.  After six surgeries in eighteen months, doctors finally told Gerzon they did not have the medical equipment or expertise to save his leg. After begging on the streets if San Pedro Sula, Gerzon finally got enough money to buy a prosthesis only to find out it did not work.

Gerzon started attending TEE and his life changed. After working with the evangelistic team of Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Claremore,OK, in March,  it was evident that Gerzon was born to be an evangelist.

From village paths to ocean shores, the Memorial Heights Baptist Church team made an eternal impact during their mission trip to Honduras (May 29–June 5). Through evangelism, worship, and baptisms, lives were changed, faith was strengthened, and the Gospel was proclaimed in powerful ways. Here's a look at how God moved throughout the week.

In Honduras, Holy Week is one of the most sacred and widely observed times of the year—celebrated with as much reverence and cultural significance as Christmas.

For more than twenty-five years, Gary has walked faithfully from village to village, door to door, person to person—bringing not only the message of Christ, but genuine care for the everyday needs of the people.

On April 6, Temple Evangelical Emmanuel joyfully marked its 14th anniversary—a moment to celebrate all God has done and reflect on how far we’ve come. I couldn’t help but think back to those early days when only a handful of us gathered each Sunday. At the time, we had no idea that we were laying the groundwork for what would become a vibrant, growing congregation that now fills the sanctuary with worship and praise. This year, I sensed a renewed urgency to empower the church body. Rather than relying solely on Pastor Nelson, Gary Kuney, or the leadership team, I challenged the members to see themselves as vessels—fully capable and called to share Christ within their own villages. Our focus shifted toward mobilizing the congregation to bring the Gospel to their neighbors, to step into the calling we all share as believers. Gary and Cheryl carry a deep sense of urgency for church members to take personal responsibility for evangelizing their friends and family and reaching their village with the hope of Christ. Their passion is a reminder that the Great Commission is for all of us. Step out in faith. Share your story. Be the light. The response has been deeply encouraging. Many who only recently came to faith are now boldly going out to share the Good News. Watching them embrace this mission with passion and joy has been a powerful reminder that God doesn’t call the equipped—He equips the called. What a blessing it is to witness this new wave of evangelism, led by ordinary people stepping into an extraordinary purpose.
