Happy, Blessed New Year from Gary and Cheryl- 12.2023

Grant Beirute • February 14, 2024

We are grateful that not only did we make it through a tough year financially in 2023,  but we were blessed with more converts than any year before.  It was worth the battle.  We praise God for providing the extra month's salary for all twenty-two employees.

WHAT IS IN STORE FOR 2024

  1. Accepting 75-100 new students in the Bible/English/Computer Classes.  We praise God as He is bringing the evngelistic field to us.

  2. Raise the bar with the sports evangelism by bringing in good soccer teams to entice older players from a wider area.

  3. With God's help, purchase the lot that is right in the middle of our compound for more space and possibly a playground for the children, which has been a long time dream.

  4. Strengthen and further organize the church plants.

Yet,  we do not want to limit what  God  wants to do in Gathering Hearts for Honduras in 2024.  We could have never written the script for all that God has done in this ministry in Honduras these past twenty-four years.  It is beyond what we had ever dreamed.   We will continue to pray and praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and join Him in what He is doing here, rather than just ask Him to bless our plans.   We hope you will continue to come alongside us and be part of God's plan for Honduras.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."   Jeremiah 29:11

We are deeply indebted to Denny Boersema and Southern Heights Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for their ongoing partnership with Gathering Hearts for Honduras. Denny has faithfully invested in our teachers—training, encouraging, and walking alongside them in both their professional growth and their walk with the Lord. Since many of our teachers are not professionally trained, having Denny—a seasoned educator—pour into them has been an incredible answer to prayer. In his own words, “I spent a lot of time one-on-one with the teachers about their teaching habits.” But Denny’s impact goes even further. He has built meaningful relationships with both teachers and students, inspiring them to pursue education and deepen their faith. Over the years, Denny has made 31 trips to GHH—helping with construction, teaching in our church (Templo Evangelical Emmanuel), and equipping young people with skills they might otherwise never have the chance to acquire. Truly, his sacrificial time and commitment are a treasure to this community and Gathering Hearts for Honduras.

A Team on Mission: Faith, Healing & A Bold Witness In June, a mission team from Christ Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, OK returned to Honduras—many of them veterans of past trips—to serve both medically and spiritually in the villages. Their hearts for the people of Honduras were on full display as they poured themselves out through long hours of ministry, even serving one day without power. Some team members ventured out to a remote, impoverished village to bring medical help and the message of Christ. Others stayed behind to treat patients at our mission center. Everywhere they went, they carried the Gospel.

God is moving in powerful and personal ways across Honduras—and your prayers and support have helped prepare the way. In this special update, we want to share a story of true Kingdom partnership: from a visiting mission team faithfully sharing the Gospel one-on-one, to a local discipleship team returning to help new believers grow in their faith. It’s a beautiful picture of the body of Christ working together, and it’s only the beginning.

From village paths to ocean shores, the Memorial Heights Baptist Church team made an eternal impact during their mission trip to Honduras (May 29–June 5). Through evangelism, worship, and baptisms, lives were changed, faith was strengthened, and the Gospel was proclaimed in powerful ways. Here's a look at how God moved throughout the week.
